As a Political Analyst, I always stress the fact that most of the responsibility for these multiple crisis scenario is because of non-creative and biased leadership. I developed the concept of Zero leadership intending to build new pillars around innovative leaders that print with innovation the road to new structures. Instead of institutions leading our path, going back to the very spirit of democracy: citizens. Making them true actors in action, helping to fix the gaps that huge and bureaucratic institutions leave behind.
Like an amethyst renowned for its healing properties, G100 delivers direct healing, professional and personal by networking and connections, and now by getting closer to institutions and academia This time the EU Parliament in Strasbourg. A rewarding experience that makes us united, not just as a platform “in the rough” but fully integrated within institutions.
We are not activists, we advocate for changes from a particular view, and even more especially from values and principles. First of all, we do trust in the transformative capacity of women to change from within, instead of a steady reindicated action we search for those aspects that women “can”, and “must” change to allow healthy relations among them. Our Denim Club integrates men in equal status with women as a way to support and deliver. The presence of men is key to improvement as we receive their feedback as well as their suggestions on how we can perform better. A self-critical exercise that demands grow-up attitudes as well as committed men. Is the latest that transform us into a new type of women’s organization: he for she and she for the spirit within goodwill actions from women to women, and not just an empty speech of what it should be.
We always put feelings before expertise, because the best leader in G100 is the one that develops trust and enriched exchange without prejudices and a strong sense of coordination, giving the “baton” to the community leadership rather than individual power. Is precisely the capacity to boost the latest within the community that makes us diverse from other groups.
After the last 3 years, we consolidated a flexible structure that now starts to flourish, bringing new colors to the flowers that so cautiously have been planted. Is when the garden, needs to be watered by institutions. The building of mutual learning instead of unilateral demands is part of the strategy, and spirit towards the creation of new synergies. In some way searching for the beats from the European Union institution’s heart, humanizing their work, and landing directly into the civil society. Time to upgrade democracy by citizenship action, and not to strengthen institutional power, which in the end is always tied to financial partisan interests.
Political leaders with soft castors….that is indeed the new wave of leaders, those who are courageous enough to challenge the status quo, learn from new voices coming from the civil society, or what is more, to let those voices be heard, is only then that changes and innovative solutions arise.
One of the biggest challenges that leaders face in boosting a feminist presence and style is that there is a global agenda on gender that tends to be ideological instead of being centered on opportunities. The idea of a 50-50 rule is not necessarily fair, as not all the women want a mathematical distribution (reflecting on household chores for instance). Equality is not the same as equity. The latest supposes taking into account women-men differences, reducing the 50-50 to opportunities based on free individual choices. The strict equality based on a global standard holds a pre-established way of life imposed by Government partisan policies and a global agenda out from local realities and individual freedom.
We truly believe that G100 is like a drop in a desert from unfair competition and disbalance, most importantly among women, and organizations/institutions that hold ideological agendas, and fixed political goals- especially partisan- G100 do believe in the people rather than the structure, on their feelings instead of their expertise, on their goodwill rather than on their contacts or political management. We are pure civil society, not representing them, is precisely this aspect that makes us unique and marks the difference with the rest of women’s organizations.
Making citizens responsible for their fate instead of furthering an activist focus is the transformative element that leads to the most powerful element to make change happen: individual action influence within a global framework, not the other way round. The wrong idea that SDG 5 is there to establish global standards in equality prevents us from moving forward within the necessary diversity. When we expect that only one goal would eventually serve as a rule for all women in any society we also must expect that religions and traditions will be eliminated. Nothing is more dangerous for a peacemaking action than to have a global “no inclusive” focus. Muslim societies are progressing on their own path and is extremely important that all interests are contemplated to make sure that gender equality policies are limited to just guidances to balance power and not a driver to further an ideology.
Actually citizens are not playing an equal role influencing, not matter if it is from activism or advocacy, instead institutions are leading the path, altough quite unsuccessfully to achieve harmony and balance among diverse societies.
Is it time to find that gemstone in the rough inside the structures as well as in ourselves that would lead us into a revolutionary swift into good solidarity, strong connections, enriched and free exchange, within the rewarding feeling of passionate work in a horizontal, and well-distributed power.Upgrading democracy standards…..instead of just equality.
